Karen Ann (Meisel) Hammond

Karen passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region. Age 76 years. The daughter of the late Virgil L. and Pauline (Alberts) Meisel was born May 29, 1938 in Cadillac Michigan. Karen attended Western Michigan University where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree and then went on to obtain her Master's Degree from the University of Michigan. Karen retired in 2000 from Standish Sterling Central High School as a Spanish and English Teacher. Karen had a great passion for education, and arranged for her students to participate in speech competitions for many years in conjunction with the Standish V.F.W. She also had a passion for reading and enjoyed traveling to many places around the world. Karen also loved spending time with her son. Left to cherish Karen's memory is her son; Adam D. Hammond, one brother; Dr. Thomas V. (Jeannine) Meisel, her niece and nephews; Lisa (David) White, Marc Meisel and Matt (Erica) Meisel and their children; Fiona and Liam Meisel, her aunt; Carol Richardson, her cousins; Dexter, Dirk and Rolf Richardson, Marcy Hegenauer, Carol (Jack) Solomon and Roger Alberts. At Karen's request cremation has taken place. A private family gathering is being planned.
