Katheryn S. (Weston) Wood

Mrs. Katheryn S. (Weston) Wood, of Bay City, passed away early on Wednesday morning, June 24, 2015 at McLaren Bay Region, age 80 years. The daughter of the late Alexander and Helen (Partlo) Lynch, she was born on January 12, 1935 in Rockford, IL. Katheryn was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald E. Weston in 1984 and also her second husband, Harlan Wood in 2003. She was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish. Katheryn worked as a secretary for many years, first with NASA in Washington, D.C. and then with Dow Chemical Co. where she retired from. She had most recently resided at The Colonnades Assisted Living and she enjoyed reading, crocheting and knitting.
Katheryn was a loving mother and grandmother and is survived by four children, Mary (Marvin) Wicker of St. John's, Rebecca (David) Tucker, Linda (Matthew) Schmidt and Dawn (Kenneth) Talaga, all of Bay City; a daughter-in-law, Denise Young of North Carolina; four step-children, Jerome (Gail) Wood, Gary (Terri) Wood, Tom (Nancy) Wood and Donna (Daryl) Maciag; her 22 grandchildren; 27 and counting great-grandchildren; her sister, Ann O'Dell of Harrisville; two brothers, David (Patricia) Lynch of Southgate and Donald (Carol) Lynch of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Katheryn was also preceded in death by a son, James O'Dell; a grandson, Ryan Michalski; and a brother, Daniel Lynch.
The Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2015 at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish, St. John the Evangelist Church in Essexville. The Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Dale A. Orlik. A private Rite of Committal will take place at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Wood will lie instate at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
