Kathleen (Jones) (Grumbley) Leinberger

Mrs. Leinberger passed away at the age of 91 on August 2, 2017. Kathleen was born on August 31, 1925 to Margaret and Moses Jones of Swansea, Wales. Kathleen was the first born US citizen in her family after they immigrated to Bay City in 1925. Kathleen worked for many years at the Alert Bowling Alley and for the Samaritan Hospital. Mrs. Leinberger is survived by her daughter, Patricia and Robert Rau; her son, Michael and Lorraine Grumbley; grandchildren, Christopher and Melissa Rau, Amy and Matt Ostapowicz, Jason and Angela Grumbley, Sarah Grumbley and her husband, Bill Terrance, Leah and Bill Fournier and Lee and Alysa Matthews; eleven great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, CJ and Charlie Rau, Tyler, Calli and Braden Ostapowicz, Alli, Seth and Abby Grumbley and Madelyn and Maya Fournier; her sister, Betty Daley of Boynton Beach, Florida and her brother Bill Jones of Mashpee, Ma. and many nieces and nephews; Erwin's children, Ken and Judy Leinberger, Walt and Jan Leinberger, Ruth and Paul List, Jan Richards, Herb and Lynn Leinberger and their children and grandchildren. Very special thanks to Kathleen's niece and namesake Kaye Chalmers for her weekly visits to mom. Kathleen was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles H. Grumbley in 1975, and her second husband, Erwin Leinberger in 2005; three brothers, Robert and his wife Jo Jones, Gilbert Jones, Chuck and his wife Betty Jones, sister Lillian and her husband Mike Timoney, sister Peggy and her husband Buck Watson, Sister-in-law, Julia Jones and her brother-in-law, Gerry Daley. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Sheffield Bay Assisted Living for all their compassion and care. Funeral and Committal services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 7, 2017 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Pastor David Hakes with private interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial cards for Bay Area Women's Center will be available at the funeral home.
