Kitty left her earthly home and went to heaven on Saturday, February 11, 2023 with her family by her side at the age of 77. She was born January 25, 1946 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Rev. Herman and Lenore (Eckert) Zehnder. Kitty was employed for many years as a dietary aid at Bay Medical Center (currently McLaren Bay Region Hospital) and built special friendships with her coworkers. She devoted countless hours to their auxiliary, fundraising auctions, and Charity Ball. Kitty had a heart for people and also supported organizations that assisted foster children and the homeless community. She loved to plan a great menu, cook, and host parties. She was famous for serving an abundance of good food and ensured there were always leftovers to send home with guests. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family at the holidays and around the pool or campfire.
Kitty is survived by her husband of 39 years, Perry Trombley, who provided excellent care to her over the past several years so she could remain at home. She will be greatly missed by her three children, Lori (Kevin) Ziolkowski, Michael (Michelle) McGivern and Jennifer (Jeffrey) Behmlander; six grandchildren, Tasha, Amanda, Noah, Bailey, Jessica and Payton. “GG” also had two special great-grandchildren, Adrianna and Emilie, who always brought a smile to her face. Kitty is also survived by her siblings, Elizabeth O’Hare, John (Janet) Zehnder and Miriam (Bob) Donahue along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Tim, and brother-in-law Colm O’Hare.
At Kitty’s request, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will honor her memory on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Bay City. Friends and family are invited to Latitude 43 for a celebration of life from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and a luncheon for those who wish to stay from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to wishes of the family or to GLBR Families Against Narcotics, a non-profit community organization that was close to her heart.
