After graduating, the family moved to Bay City, Michigan, where she took a job at the Autolite Company, making aircraft gun turrets for World War II. During this time she met, fell in love with and married Robert (Bob) Wackerle.
Those who knew Kathryn will remember her many interests: friends, playing bridge, gardening, church functions, avid reader, horseback rider, tap dancer and many more. The most important to her was family. Her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to top the list. She never knew when or where she would make new friends and much to her surprise and delight she was gifted with and entire team of friends that she came to love right until the end. Kathryn was a feisty woman who lived her life determined and courageously through loss and pain bravely. She NEVER forgot those she loved.
