Kathy Sue Sommerfield-Kennedy

On Thursday, October 19, 2017 the Lord came to bring Kathy home. Kathy fought like a warrior against her health issues, beating the odds time and time again. She was born March 4, 1956 in Oscoda, Michigan and lived most of her life in Bay City. She married the love of her life, Tom Kennedy on July 8, 2017. He had been in her life for over 40 years. Kathy was an avid dog lover, having several fur-babies throughout her life. Kathy enjoyed spending her time outdoors with Tom, family and friends, where she was happiest sitting around a campfire with a big smile on her face.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Tom; step-father, Ken Keyser; sister, Donna (Max) Culler; step-sister, Kim Toler; step-brother, Mark Keyser; brother-in-law, Ron (Kim) Kennedy; many cousins and special friends Bert Willis and Gayle Boomer. Kathy was very active in the lives of her nieces and nephews, Tyler Sommerfield, Rachel Vansumeren, Stacy Kennedy and Zach Kennedy. She was very proud of all their accomplishments. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Sommerfield; mother, June Keyser-Sommerfield; sister, Debbie, and her father and mother-in-law, Jim and Ellie Kennedy.

Per Kathy's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial will be planned in the spring. Kathy, may you rest in Jesus's arms beside you loved ones forever being at peace. You will be greatly missed. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial contribution to the American Cancer Society or the MS foundation.
