Traxler, Kenneth Ty "Joe" Bay City, Michigan Joe Traxler passed away peacefully Monday morning April 8, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Age 77 years. The son of the late Tyrus and Mildred (Pyle) Traxler was born July 21, 1935 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. He was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, attended T.L. Handy High School, serves in the United States Army druing the Korean Conflict, was formerly employed at Ramar Construction Company and retired from the Lathers and Carpenters Union after many years of service. Joe had a great love for kids and spent many years mentoring and coaching the youth in our community in the Bangor Recreation Program. He volunteered many hours of his time with many community projects and especially enjoyed the time he spent with the Rechsteiner Pancake Crew and was an avid sports fan. On May 23, 1959 he married his loving wife of 53 years the former Caroline Guettler and she survives his passing along with one daughter; Dawn (Vince Pellitier) Rivard, two sons and one daughter-in-law; David and Laura Traxler and Dean (Jenny Steelman) Traxler, one adopted son; Randy (Jackie) Sova, two grandchildren; Alicia (Shane) Faulk and Zachary Rivard, one great grandchild; Madison Falk, three brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law; John and Delores Guettler, Donald and Lillian Guettler and Lorna and Dick Dietlein, many nieces and nephews, two special great nephews; Cameron and Connor Guettler, one special great niece; Kaylyn Guettler and many other great nieces and nephews and his special dog; Carly Sue. Besides his parents Tyrus and Mildred he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law; Caroline Guettler, and two brothers-in-law; Robert and Maynard Guettler. The Traxler family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Raap and Dr. Chavali for the kind and compassionate care they extended to Joe during the time they cared for him. A Memorial Service will take place Friday, April 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Paul E. Schweppe with private inurnment in Fremont Cemetery. At the request of Mr. Traxler cremation has taken place. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday to receive visitors from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of service. Memorial cards for St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church or the Wishes of the Family will be available at the funeral home.
