Our loving husband, father and grandfather passed away early Friday morning February 5, 2016 at his residence. Age 68 years. He was born on June 9, 1947 in Bay City, Michigan and has resided here all of his life. Mr. Cobley was a member of Corpus Christi Parish-Holy Trinity Church, The League of Catholic Women and Men and retired as an Iron Worker from the Iron Workers Local # 25. Kirby enjoyed a good game of golf, had a passion for hunting and fishing, enjoyed camping at Lost Valley Campground, traveling, he was an avid University of Michigan Football fan and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
On December 4, 1986 he married the former Diane M. Schiell and she is left behind to cherish his memories along with one daughter; Tammy Bradbury, one son; Eric Cobley, two grandchildren; Noah and Taylor Bradbury, his mother-in-law; Geraldine Schiell, two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law; Susan Miller all of Bay City and David and Barb Schiell of NC. He is also survived by six nieces and nephews; Mark Cobley, Ann Suchocki, Jim Niederstadt, Craig Schiell, Troy Schiell and Kayla Hensiek, eight great nieces and nephews, his cousins and friends and his K-9 companion; Liz,. Kirby was preceded in death by his father; Idris Cobley, his mother and stepfather; Ann and Al Shorkey, one brother; Idris "Ben" Cobley, one sister and brother-in-law; Katy and Michael Stephens, his father-in-law; Girard Schiell and his K-9 companion; Bo.
A Memorial Mass will take place Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish-Holy Trinity Church (1000 S. Wenona St. Bay City, MI 48706). Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Robert S. Gohm with private Inurnment in the Columbarium at St. Patrick's Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Monday to receive visitors from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the Church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to Good Samaritan Rescue Mission, Humane Society of Bay County or Corpus Christi Parish.
