Kody W. VanGuilder

Kody passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center, Midland at the age of 31 years. He was born September 1, 1988 to Robert VanGuilder and Dawn Shann. On November 16, 2018 he married Alex Sage in Midland and worked for many years at McDonalds in Midland. He graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Philosophy. In his spare time he enjoyed cooking, kayaking, being around water, music and musicals. He also loved the science of Astronomy and the planets Saturn and Jupiter.
Kody is survived by his husband, Alex; mother, Dawn Shann; brother, EJ (Templa Delano) Zolinski; sister, Kara Treichel; grandparents, Jerry (Caroline) Shann and Joan (Rod) Simanskey; aunt, Michele Stender; uncle, Matthew Shann; mother-in-law, Kim (Daniel) Schuelke; father-in-law, Clay (Debbie) Sage; brother-in-law, Austin (Matt) Sage and grandmother-in-law, Ginger (Ralph) Fahler.
At the request of Kody, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Lincoln Road Hall in Bay City with a luncheon to follow.
