Kori P. Harvey of Pleasant Ridge, MI passed away in Basel, Switzerland by voluntary assisted suicide on March 6th, 2024. She had struggled with Treatment-Resistant Bipolar Disorder since young adulthood. Kori fought each day to live life with purpose, dignity, and contentment. Each severe episode, the time away from work, the long months at different psychiatric hospitals, the amount of pills and the painful invasive treatments to her brain had all changed her as a person. Having to pick herself up from rock bottom way too many times to count, to being terrified of when the next episode would happen, is not the life Kori worked so hard to build. Her drive, confidence and energy that made Kori who she was declined with each episode. She eventually realized Bipolar was not a battle she would win. She hid her disease from many due to the stigma, labeling and ignorance, as with mental disorders people fear what they don’t understand.
Kori was 45 years old, born January 30th, 1979 to Robert and Cheryl Harvey in Bay City, MI. Kori graduated from Bay City Western High School where she was Class President all four years. She attended Northwood University where she earned a Dual Degree in International Business and Business Management with a minor in Spanish. Kori was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority and Delta Mu Delta Honor Society. She started her career at Dow Chemical and then moved to BASF Corporation where she had successful commercial career with several different roles spanning twenty years.
Kori was funny and sarcastic. She loved to work out and did so twice a day with circuit training and weights. Also, anything outside with riding her bike, walking with friends and swimming. Scuba diving with sharks and manta rays were a big obsession while on vacation. Seeing a movie, documentaries and celebrity gossip were her favorites. Jaws and Rocky IV were the best. She loved to travel and had been all over the United States, Europe, Mexico and Asia for pleasure and for work.
Kori is survived by her parents, Robert E. Harvey and Cheryl D. Harvey, brother, Robert E. (Sister-in-law) Harvey II, one niece, Uncle, William F. Harvey, Aunt, Paula D. White and Uncle, Michael D. Dietze.
