Larry passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 82 years. He was born in Bay City on May 11, 1937 to the late Edmund and Elsie (Landosky) Arnold. Larry was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Army stationed in Germany post war. On September 22, 1962 he married the former Betty Jane Kuch in Auburn and were married for 56 years. He retired from Monitor Sugar as a foreman in 2004 after 40 years and also worked as a farmer for many years. Larry and Betty were also foster parents for fifteen years and really enjoyed doing this. In his spare time he enjoyed auction sales, collecting farm toys and toy tractors, working in the yard and helping neighbors and friends. Larry was an avid Michigan State fan and was known to wear green everywhere he went.
Larry is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Lori Janasik, Bonnie Blum, Larry J., Thomas (Melissa), Jennifer and John Arnold; grandchildren, Nathan, Jon, Christopher, Matthew, Kyle, Kal, Tyler, Kayla and Katie and niece, Robin (Ken) Hill. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Richard and Alvin.
Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church with military honors under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council. Officiating will be Rev. William H. Allwardt and Rev. Steve Schilke with private burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Arnold will be taken to the church on Wednesday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
