Laura Belle (Powers) Welch

Welch, Laura Belle (Powers) Bay City, Michigan Our sweet, loving, gentle mother went into her Lord's arms on Saturday morning November 16, 2013 at Huron Woods Nursing Home in Kawkawlin, MI. Age of 92 years. The daughter of the late Alonzo and Meme (Bradley) Ammon was born July 15, 1921 in Prudenville, Michigan and had resided in Bay City most of her life. Laura had a great love for her church and was the eldest member of the First Pentecostal Church. She enjoyed camping trips with her family, fishing, she spent much of her time praying for her children to go to church and most of all she enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends. She is survived by her children and their spouses; Joseph and Jacquelin Powers of Essexville, Rev. Thomas and Nellie Powers of Defiance, OH, David and Rhea Powers of Rose City, Faith Doud of Bay City, Rev. Johnny and Bonnie Powers of Bay City and Laurie Piotrowski of Davison, twenty grandchildren, forty great grandchildren and one great grandchild. Besides her parents she was preceded by her husband; Thomas Roy Powers on September 26, 1958, her husband; Chester Austin Welch on September 3, 1972 and one daughter; Linda Meringer. Her children would like to extend a special thank you to her family and friends at Huron Woods Nursing Home for the kind and compassionate care that Laura received. The nursing home staff went above and beyond to make our mother feel as if she was the only one on the world. Funeral services will take place Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Pentecostal Church 2884 North Union Bay City, Michigan 48706 . Officiating will be Pastor Michael Wood with interment following in Heavenly Rest Cemetery in Kawkawlin. There will be no visitation at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. The family will be present at the church on Wednesday to received visitors from 12:00 noon and until the time of services. Memorial cards for Alzheimer's Foundation or the First Pentecostal Church will be available.
