Cavanaugh, Lawrence R. Kawkawlin, Michigan Mr. Lawrence Cavanaugh passed away peacefully at his home to go and be with his Lord and Savior with his wife and family by his side on Saturday, October 26, 2013, exactly 12 years after his mother's passing. At the age of 73. The son of the late John and Florence (Allenspach) Cavanaugh was born April 7, 1940 in Bay City, Michigan. Larry enjoyed playing ball, scuba diving, riding his bicycle, bird watching, traveling, bowling and golf. He was a member of the gun club and an avid reader. His most enjoyable times were family times. He enjoyed listening to music, taking walks with his wife, going to Tim Hortons every morning, taking care of Pat, his brother, and loved to be rubbed and touched. Larry Graduated in 1958 from T.L. Handy High School, after graduation he served in the United States Marine Corp. for three years at Camp Pendleton in California. After serving our country he went to Bay City Junior College where he learned tool and die and received his degree. Larry retired from Delphi in 2002. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 48 ½ years, the former Annette A. Meylan; one son, Douglas (Amy) Meylan; two granddaughters, Anna and Abby Meylan; one sister, Beverly (Donald) Salois; four brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Bonnie Meylan, Edward and Mary Meylan, Dan and Jean Cole, Laurie and Bill Kowalak and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Larry was also preceded in death by one brother, Patrick Cavanaugh. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Campau, his staff and Heartland Hospice for their compassion and care and to our family, friends and the Fraser Road Church of God for their support. Larry will be sadly missed. Funeral and Committal services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Pastor Gerald Johnston under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council. Private inurnment will take place at a later date in Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday, October 28, 2013 from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial cards for Heartland Hospice or the wishes of the family will be available at the funeral home.
