Lawrence "Larry" E. Maples

Larry Maples passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center - Midland. Age 80 years. The son of the late Leslie and Lucy (Rathsack) Maples was born February 16, 1937 in Bay City, Michigan. Larry retired from the Bay City Public Schools as a chemistry teacher and was the director of the Delta College sailing school. Larry was a licensed Great Lakes Captain and enjoyed downhill skiing, sailing and photography.

Larry is survived by his four children, Leslie (Richard) Beckman, Craig Maples, Christopher Maples and Laura (Robert) Kay; five grandchildren, Craig (Lindsay) Beckman, Matt Beckman, Haley Beckman, Madison Kay and Samantha Kay; one great granddaughter, Aria Beckman; one sister, Dolores (Lee) Thatcher and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Larry was also preceded in death by one brother, Jarvis Maples and one sister, Beverly Maples.

At the request of Mr. Maples cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service is being planned for a later date.
