Mr. Ranes passed away peacefully Wednesday morning October 7, 2015 at the Carriage House of Bay City. Age 86 years. The son of the late Lester James and Lillie (Paige) Rains was born March 13, 1929 in Gladwin, Michigan and had resided in Bay City most of his life. He was a member of AARP, enjoyed working puzzles, and was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, Washington Redskins and most of all he enjoyed college football.
On July 17, 1999 he married the love of his life the former Paula D. Johnson and she preceded him in death on June 30, 2008. Left behind to cherish his memories are his special friends Michael and Charline Irwin, Prezetta McCall and Prezetta Autman.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Carriage House of Bay City, Catholic Family Services and Charline and Mike for the kind and compassionate care they provided for Mr. Ranes during the time they cared for him.
Funeral and Committal Services will take place Tuesday October 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. David Dunn.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to "The Wishes of the Family"
