Leanore B. Knochel Linwood, Michigan Mrs. Knochel passed away peacefully early Sunday afternoon, December 20, 2015, at her home with all of her children by her side. Age 95 years. She was born on September 4, 1920 to the late Thomas and Mildred (Eddy) Dining in Bay County and has resided here all of her life. Leanore was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. She was an active gardener, cook, and seamstress. She was also active in leadership for 4H and Girl Scouts in the community. She is survived by her six children; Eileen Knochel of Linwood, Wayne Knochel of Linwood, Jim (Kay) Knochel of Linwood, Jerry (Michelle) Knochel of Pinconning, Patsy (Michael) Brock of Linwood, and Nettie Knochel of Linwood. Ten grandchildren; Sarah Knochel, Jenay Knochel, Jamie (Nathan) Hodel, Laura Knochel, Kathy Knochel, Jeremy Knochel, Emily (Chris) Williams, Cassie Knochel, Benjamin BragielJ.D., and Beri Bragiel (fiancé Lindsay Comerford), four great-grandchildren; Haley, Laney and Cooper Hodel, and Natalyy Williams, sisters-in-law Elinor Knochel, Laura Knapp, Johanna Knochel, Madeline Bledsoe, Evelyn Knochel, one brother-in-law, Kenneth Meddaugh, and several nieces and nephews, including all of the double cousins from the Floyd and Marian Knochel family. Leanore was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Norman P. Knochel, on January 7, 2011, along with two sisters, Marian Knochel and Beatrice Meddaugh, 10 brothers-in-law; Harold, Alpha, Theodore, Herbert, Victor, Floyd and Fred Knochel, Wallace Wackerle, Harold Schieler and Glenn Knapp, sisters-in-law; Doris Knochel, Marie Schieler, Alvina Wackerle, and Helen Knochel. The Knochel family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Michael Gruber and his wife Debbie who provided Leanore with healthcare and friendship for many years, and for the kind and compassionate care from Home Hospice Advantage and Almost Heaven Home Care that was extended to Leanore at the time of her passing. Funeral Services will take place Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church. Officiating will be Clergy of the Church with interment following in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Knochel will be taken to the church on Wednesday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of service.
