Lenore E. Sovereign

Lenore Elaine (Sporman) Sovereign passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at McLaren Bay Region.  She was born on June 21, 1948 to Walter and Marian (Boughton) Sporman in Bay City Michigan.  She attended Bay City Central High School where she began dating the love of her life, Will J. Sovereign.  The two were inseparable, both graduating from Central Michigan University.  They married on May 20, 1972 at St. Stanislaus  Parish, moving into their home they shared together for over 28 years, where they raised three children, Rachel, Phoebe and Benjamin.
Lenore worked on genealogy, tracing the roots of the Sovereign, Boughton, and Molyneaux family lineage.  She was a beautiful crafter, creating cross stitch, scrapbooks, cards, fabric and wood crafts.  Lenore designed many of her own creations, catching the attention of Designs Combined, Inc.  Her website, Hickory Hollow Primitives, sold handmade creations all over the world and she was well known as an antique primitive doll artist.  She enjoyed decorating her home, was a fabulous cook, and an avid reader, especially First Lady biographies.  Lenore volunteered as a Girl Scout leader with her daughters, and for many years with her husband and son in Boy Scouts.  She was meticulous to the care and attention of her son when he fought leukemia, partnered with her husband who never left her side.
Lenore loved her family and looked forward to visiting with them.  She will be missed in the circle around the table, sharing family stories and current gossip.  Family and friends remember her as the go to person when you had difficulties, she was calm and kind, expressing her sympathy and love.
Lenore is survived by her loving husband, Will J. Sovereign, her children Rachel Sovereign (Shane) Zinke, Phoebe (Benjamin) Gohs, and Benjamin (Christina Elwell) Sovereign, grandchildren Elliot Sovereign, Nathaniel Sovereign, Nicholas Courier, Bethany Gohs, Lillian Sovereign, Leah Sovereign, siblings Douglas Sporman, Julie (Joseph Longo) Sauve, Elizabeth (James Bates) Hulslander, cousins, and many nieces, nephews and their families.  She was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Marian (Boughton) Sporman, brother Thomas Sporman, sister Jenny Sporman, husband's parents Will F. and Mary Sovereign, and nephew Jeffery Hulslander.
At the request of Lenore, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be at St. Alban's Episcopal Church on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Nancy Mayhew. Friends may visit at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Alban's or Make A Wish Foundation.
