Leroy passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 in Bay City, Michigan at the age of 92. He was born on June 13, 1931 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Harold and Alvina (Sturm) Forster. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was confirmed and baptized there as well. As a child, Leroy worked on the family farm. At the age of 16 he drove the milk truck for his grandfather and at 17 he worked at Monitor Sugar. He worked for Engelhardt Construction while attending class to get his Journeyman Carpenter card. He started working for Gregory Construction in 1959 and retired as a job supervisor in 1993. After retirement he kept busy, building and remodeling homes and making furniture. He helped each one of his children remodel their homes. He loved his yard and garden, and listening to polka music. He was a member of Carpenters Local 706. Leroy married the love of his life, Veldora, on April 25, 1953 at St. Paul Frankenlust Church and spent over 70 years together before her passing in August 2023. He loved spending time with his wife and they enjoyed watching birds, cooking, putting puzzles together and caring for each other.
Leroy is survived by his children, Karen (James) Phillips, Alan (Beth) Forster, Dennis Forster and Lori (Michael Jr.) Royer; eight grandchildren, Robert (Brittany) Phillips, Ryan Phillips, Richard (Bridget) Phillips, Rachel (Erik) Wesslen, Jessica (Robert) Stothard, Angela (Lorenzo) Rios, Melissa Forster and Kaitlyn Royer and her fiancé, Logan Kokaly; eleven great grandchildren; and his sisters, Linda Forster and Judy (Larry) Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Veldora Forster and brother, Donald Forster.

Funeral service for Leroy will be taking place on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with interment to follow at the Lutheran Home Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Seth Kaiser. The family will be present to receive visitors at the Gephart Funeral Home on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church or School.
