Colestock, Lila J. Bay City, Michigan Lila Colestock went to be with the Lord on Sunday evening, October 23, 2011 at Brian's House. She was born April 4, 1926 to the late Carl and Ida (Meyer) Sinn in a little house on Henry Street in Bay City. She spent her teenage years at 300 Alp Street with her parents and sister, Nancy. She attended Kolb Elementary School and later went to Central High School where she graduated in 1946. She worked at the Probation office as a secretary earning money to attend Fort Wayne Bible Institute and Wheaton College. Upon graduation she went to Nigeria, Africa as a missionary under Sudan Interior Mission and taught missionary children at Kent Academy for 11 years. In 1957 because of a civil war in Nigeria she returned to the United States and began teaching at elementary schools in Essexville. She married Robert Colestock, teacher in Unionville Sebewaing Schools in 1978. They both retired in 1982 and moved to Bay City. Lila Colestock was a member of New Life Missionary Church and a member of the Gideon's. She is survived by her husband; Robert L. Colestock, her stepchildren; Mark (Jaycelyn) Colestock, Gwynne (Dwight) Shaver and Corey (Rebekka) Colestock; one step son-in-law, Ron Spencer; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister; Nancy (Lowell) Martin. In addition to her parents Lila was also preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Sandi Spencer Funeral and Committal services will take place Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at New Life Missionary Church. Officiating will be Rev. Jonathan Boyer with private interment in Demorest Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Lila Colestock will be taken to the church on Wednesday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of services. Memorial cards for the Gideon's will be available at the funeral home.
