Payne, Lillian M.Bay City, MichiganMrs. Payne passed away Friday, April 2, 2010 at Huron Woods Nursing Home, age 95. Lillian was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta to the late Herberstand & Mable (Metevier) Stevenson on October 7, 1914. She lived in Bay City all of her life. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church most of her life, member of the Altar Society, St. Marthas Circle, League of Catholic Women & Men, VFW Auxiliary 3724 and a member of Leadership Circle M.C.P.S.S.M. Lillian was a member of American Business Women for 36 years, program chairman for many years, woman of the year, citizen of the year and many other committees. Lillian was in retail sales for many years, as the Manager of Gatteys Womens Wear at the age of 18, she then worked for Knepps coat department, Sams Brothers Coats and opened Fashion Square with Alberts, retiring in 1981 from Alberts. Mrs. Payne also worked to get lunch programs, busses and new schools for Bangor Township in the late 40's and 50's.Mrs. Payne is survived by one son-in-law, Robert Aspin of Beaverton; four grandchildren, Fred (Dawn) Aspin of Auburn, Danielle Bigham of Bentley, Robert (Charity) Carson II of Pinconning and Brad (Amy) Carson of Sterling; great grandchildren, Alex, Autumn, Amber, Dennon, Amanda, Hailee, Chelsee, Kortnee, Kasidee and Kaiden; one great great grandchild, Arizona Bigham; one sister, Kathryn Dawson; one brother, Herbert Jr. (Lorraine) Stevenson; uncle, Bob (Delores) Thorpe. In addition to her parents Lillian was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Payne; two daughters, Una Aspin and Pauline Carson and four brothers. At the request of Mrs. Payne cremation has taken place. A Memorial Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 9, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Craig L. Albrecht with private inurnment in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of service. Memorial cards for St. Mary's Catholic Church will be available at the church.
