Linda Sue (Shelburg) Smith

Linda passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014 at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, MI at the age of 53 years. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Linda graduated from John Glenn High School in 1978 and went on to Delta College to earn an Associate Degree in Applied Sciences and Health Insurance Coding and Claims Specialist Advanced Certificate. She worked for many years in retail and most recently as a medical biller. She enjoyed watching the Detroit Red Wings, golfing, and had a special love for animals. She also enjoyed traveling with her family to her favorite places, Crystal Mountain and Myrtle Beach, SC. She is survived by her husband; Matthew J. Smith whom she married in 2008, her children; Charles (Chas) Eldridge II, Casey Eldridge, Courtney Eldridge and her fiancé; Scott Douponce, her mother; Beverly (Wanless) Shelburg, her sisters; Lisa Erwin and husband; Tom and their daughter; Alex Erwin, Laura Golombek and her husband; Joe and their daughters; Haylie and Payton Golombek, her father-in-law and mother-in-law; Keith and Margaret Smith, her brother-in-law; Andy Smith and his wife; Gaynor, many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father; William Shelburg, her grandparents; Louis and Evelyn Shelburg and Henry and Alzena Wanless. At Linda's request cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place Friday, January 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Andreas H. Teich. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday to receive family and friends from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
