Mr. Lloyd D. Botham, of Bay City, passed away Wednesday morning, July 20, 2016 at McLaren Bay Region, age 84. The son of the late Arthur Botham and Pauline (Burton) Campbell, he was born on August 6, 1931 in Flint. Lloyd was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954 as a staff sergeant. He was the Executive Vice President and General Manager of Delta Containers, retiring in 1992. Lloyd was an avid sports fan, especially loved watching the Detroit Tigers. He spent many winters in Venice, Florida with his wife Dee. Lloyd loved to play golf, enjoyed bowling, liked to dabble in and watch the stock market and he especially cherished the time he spent with his family. He was a special husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
On June 9, 1951 Lloyd married the former Delores J. Nieman and she preceded him in death on May 12, 2016. He is survived by his three children, Scott Botham of Bay City, Debbie (Jeff) McAlpine of Essexville and Sandra Gainsforth of Bay City; three grandchildren, Derek Gainsforth, Ashley Gainsforth and Kristie McAlpine; his brother, Richard (Kaye) Campbell and their children, Burt (Linda) Campbell, Thom Campbell and Angie O'Kelly-Campbell; brother-in-law, John (Judi) Nieman and their daughter Marissa (Brad) Cardon and their son, Landry; and also many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, Lloyd was also preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Everett Botham.
The Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2016 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Jeff Temple with Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Air Force and the Bay County Veterans Council. Private interment will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
