Lloyd Chartier, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend left this world on February 25, 2016 at the age of 95 to be with his maker and the love of his life, his wife, Beatrice (Pajot). He and Beatrice were married on April 21, 1945. They brought eight children into this world during their almost 60 years of marriage. They left everyone with a legacy of virtues, kindness, forgiveness, laughter, helping one another, religion, determination and perseverance. Lloyd was born June 6th, 1920. He was a World War II veteran, stationed in West Africa serving in the Army Air Force from December 30, 1941 until December 1943. He worked for the Dow Chemical Co. and retired after 41 years. He was a licensed builder, built many homes in the Bay City area. He also built and was co-owner of the Anchor Downs Apartments in Midland. Lloyd was a member of Saint Catherine of Siena Parish, Saint Vincent DePaul Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, council 3590 in Auburn, Good Sams and Allegro camping clubs. Lloyd loved playing cards, especially poker and enjoyed many tournaments at casinos, KC councils and in his home. He and Beatrice also loved traveling throughout the US for many years and made Arizona their winter home. He especially loved camping with family at River Valley Campground and enjoyed making his famous pancakes. Surviving Lloyd are six children, Karen (Mike) Ford of Sanford, Linda Legue of Essexville, Ron (Carol) Chartier of Bay City, Bill Chartier of Jackson, Nancy (Marty) Reder of Essexville, Michele Anthony of Essexville and daughters-in-law Diane Chartier of Bay City and Catherine Chartier of Midland.Grandchildren Melissa Linderman, Jennifer Diel, David and Andy Chartier, Lisa DeChane, Tony Ramseyer, Amy Leaman, Kristen Alva, Kayla and Kory Chartier, Ryan Green, Chelsea and Alissa Chartier, Rachelle Ovalle, Chad Reder, Kellie Lehner, Jared and Marcus Anthony.18 great grandchildren and special friend Hulda Gast. His sister, Mary Ann Sheskey and brother Merle (Mary) Chartier, sisters-in-law Edna Chartier and Helen Pajot.Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice and their sons Larry, Emery Chartier and daughter-in-law Tracey Chartier. Great granddaughter Aaliyah Ovalle, brothers Eugene, Paul, Bob and Emery Chartier. Sisters Delores Deets and Joyce Tomczak. His parents, Theresa and Ray Chartier. His parents-in-law Selina and Joseph Pajot. His brothers and sisters-in-law Fred and Mary Pajot, Lloyd and Theresa Pajot, Joe and Stella Pajot, Louie and Elsie Jablanski, Tom Pajot, Cecelia Pajot, Leo Sheskey and Larry Tomczak. The family would like to thank Sheffield Bay Memory Care unit for their care of our dad and especially to Ralph, Karen and all the other care givers for their truly loving ways with our dad. A special thank you to McLaren hospice team, for their amazing help in easing and comforting Dad as much as possible. The Funeral Liturgy will take place Monday, February 29, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Parish 2956 E. North Union Rd., Bay City, Michigan 48706. Rev. Fr. George J. Serour and Sister Virginia Scally, SNDdeN will officiate over the Funeral Rite. The Rite of Committal will take place at Calvary Mausoleum followed by Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Air Force. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. to receive family and friends. The K of C Council #3590 will be present at the funeral home on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. for the bible presentation followed by the Vigil for the Deceased Mr. Chartier will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
