Loretta M. Block

Block, Loretta M. Bay City, Michigan Mrs. Block passed away early Tuesday morning December 24, 2013 at Heartland Health Care Hampton at the age of 86 years. The daughter of the late Joseph and Cora (Piotrowski) Murawski was born September 2, 1927 in Bay City and has resided here all of her life. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and it's Ladies Guild. Loretta was a volunteer at the church funerals and enjoyed the time she helped at the Economy Center. She is survived by one son and two daughters-in-law; Terry and Joann Block of Bay City and Joan Block of Bay City, three grandchildren; Christopher Block and his companion Becky Groulx, Kevin and Nikki Block and Laurie and Joel Ferris, three great grandchildren; Adelyn Ferris and Connor and Chase Block, one sister; Jeannette Jaynes, one brother and two sisters-in-law; Joseph and Pat Murawski and Jean Pacholke and many nieces and nephews. On October 11, 1948 she married Peyton E. "Pete" Block and he preceded her in death on February 15, 2006. She was also preceded in death by one son; Dennis Block, two sisters Dorothy Murawski and Eleanor and Harry Piesik, father-in-law and mother-in-law; Peter and Grace Block, two brothers-in-law; Jerry Jaynes and Richard Pacholke and one sister-in-law; June Goss. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her special neighbors Tony, Kevin and Michelle for all the special things they did for our mother over the years. Funeral Services will take place Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. William H. Allwardt with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Friday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mrs. Block will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of service. Memorial cards for "Wishes of the Family" will be available at the funeral home.
