Lorna Jane Bills

Lorna passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Brookdale Memory Care at the age of 87. The daughter of the late Erwin and Emma (Weiss) Schlicker was born November 8, 1936 in Saginaw, Michigan. Lorna was a devout member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairgrove, a graduate of T. L. Handy High School and loved her work as a physical therapy assistant for 26 years with the State of Michigan. She was a loving, caring and generous person who loved spending time with her family. Lorna enjoyed the outdoors, especially her flower gardens, going north to the family cabin, camping, bonfires, playing horseshoes, dancing, polka music, bowling, cooking, baking, collecting angel figurines, making homemade cards and writing poetry.

Lorna is survived by her daughter, Tammy Lynn; one grandson, Nathan; one brother, Eugene Schlicker; one sister, Kathleen (Don) Doud; sister-in-law, Loretta Schlicker and 25 nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, William “Buff” Bills; daughter, Brenda Sue Bills; two sisters, Marilyn Hine and Veldora Forster and two brothers, Larry Schlicker and Ronald Schlicker.

Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairgrove. Officiating will be Pastor Joshua Haller with Committal following in Brookside Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday, January 19, 2024 at the Gephart Funeral Home from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial cards for the Alzheimer’s Foundation will be available at the funeral home.
