Mr. Lyle James Samuels, of Bay City, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday morning, October 27, 2016 at Caretel Inns of Bay City, age 79. The son of the late Earl and Hilda (Pretzer) Samuels, he was born on September 25, 1937 in Saginaw. Lyle was raised on his family's farm in Hemlock. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Lyle retired in 1994 as a Facilities Manager at Dow Chemical Co. in Midland, where he worked for 40 years. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish and enjoyed gardening and tending his flowers. On October 17, 1964 Lyle married the former Darlene M. Martin and they recently celebrated their 52nd Anniversary this past week. Along with Darlene, Lyle is also survived by their three children, Troy Samuels of Nevada, Susan (Ted) Dwornick of Saline and Sheryl (Allen) Henderson of Bloomfield Hills; four granddaughters, Rachel Dwornick, Emily, Clarie and Grace Henderson; and his brother, Thomas (Tina) Samuels of St. Charles. Besides his parents, Lyle was also preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, Jr., Richard and Kenneth Samuels. The Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 2956 E. North Union Rd., Bay City. The Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. George J. Serour. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the Parish Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Samuels will lie instate at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
