Mabel (Martin) Frasik Bay City, Michigan Mabel, our loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt, passed away at McLaren-Bay Region on Friday, April 6, 2012. Even though she was 93 years old, Mabel looked much younger, and she told everyone it was because of her "faith-lifts." She was born on March 1, 1919 and was the sixth of twelve children born to Mable (White) and Joseph M. Martin in Mt. Forest Township of Bay County. She spent most of her life in Bay City. Mabel attended St. James and St. Joseph schools. On January 9, 1941, Mabel married R. Michael Frasik in Gesu Catholic Church in Detroit, MI. After 15 years, they returned to Bay City and became members of Holy Trinity parish in 1956. Mabel became involved in many projects at Holy Trinity Church and school. She was a charter and founding member of the Liturgy Commission, the Parish Council, the Adult Resurrection and Diocesan choirs, as well as a cantor and member of the church choir. Because of her love of decorating and flowers, Mabel became Director of Art & Environment at her church for a period of more than 25 years. After retiring, Mabel was involved in forming the weekly Rosary Prayer Session at Holy Trinity that lasted for 15 years. Mabel is survived by her two daughters Michelle Frasik and Maribeth (Gary) Hopps, four grandchildren Zachariah Bowdish; Alyssa, Marc, and Mykaela Hopps, all of Bay City; one brother, Orwin (Dorothy) Martin of Bay City; three sisters, Rose Krager, Standish, Lucille McNamara, Lansing, and Roberta (Richard) Behmlander, Bay City, plus many nieces, nephews and cousins, and her dear friend, Sr. Joanne Toohey, O.P. Mabel was predeceased by her husband, R. Michael Frasik, in 1988 and her son Michael J. Frasik in 1952. Also, six brothers, Edward, Joseph, Frank, Lorwn, Dayton, and Bernard Martin, and one sister, Agnes Dion. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Rev. Bert Gohm, Sister Joanne Toohey, Drs. Gary Dardas and Tuscola Physicians, Jonathan Abramson, and A. Maciulis and to all who gave Mabel love, care, and prayers, and also to her extended family at Holy Trinity Parish. A celebration of Mabel's life will take place at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1008 S. Wenona Ave., Bay City on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 10:00am. The Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Dale A. Orlik with the Rite of Committal following at St. Patrick Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place on Tuesday from 2:00 to 9:00pm at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. The Rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 7:00pm followed by the Vigil for the Deceased at 7:30pm.
