Mabel H. Wegener

Mrs. Wegener passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Bay Valley Home in Bay City. Age 90 years. The daughter of the late Edwin and Cora (Beiser) Kernstock was born April 5, 1925 in Auburn, Michigan. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. For several years she owned and operated a beauty shop out of her home. According to her grandsons she baked exceptional springerle and German cookies, especially at Christmas time Left behind to cherish her memory is one daughter; Barbara Ann Wegener of Rockford, MI, her grandchildren whom she loved very much and they returned the love, Matthew and Joshua Batten of Grand Rapids, MI, three sisters-in-law; Bernita, Arline and Arlene Kernstock, one special niece; Ruth Weismiller who took very good care of Mabel in her last years and many other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Victor Wegener on December 31, 1984, her son-in-law; John Batten, brothers; Alfred, Edward, Kenneth and Eugene Kernstock, her sisters; Irma Arnold, Vera Wood and Lois Broderick, her brothers-in-law; Gerald Wood and William McNally. At the request of Mrs. Wegener cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. William H. Allwardt with private inurnment in Home Cemetery. The family will be present at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services to receive family and friends.
