The daughter of the late John and Julia (Meyer) Wackerle passed away Saturday evening October 1, 2016 at Bay Medical Care Facility. Age 101 years. She was born September 30, 1915 in Kawkawlin, Michigan and has resided in Bay City since 1924. Mabelle was a lifelong member of The Apostolic Christian Church in Kawkawlin and was a supporter of the church's world relief projects. She was a skillful quilter and weaver of rag rugs, a fine photographer and diligent genealogist who recorded most family events. She traveled extensively in the United States and abroad and enjoyed taking her nieces and nephews on many camping trips and other adventures. She retired as an LPN from General Hospital which is now McLaren Bay Region Medical Center. Left behind to cherish her memories are one brother George Wackerle of Alliance, Nebraska, one sister; Charlene Compton of Blue Ridge, Georgia, eight nephews, sixteen nieces, including the children of Mabelle's sister; Lucille Schumacher, whom she took care of after Lucille's death: John Schumacher, Bob Schumacher, Barbara Bermudez and Linda Witbrodt. Besides her parents John and Julia she was preceded in death by her sisters; Eldine Wackerle, Lucille Schumacher, Bernice Fritz, Elda LaMere, Madelyn "Scunny" Streu and Johanna Tanner, her brothers; Al "Deacon" Wackerle, Wess Wackerle, two nephews; Tim LaMere and Tom Schumacher and one niece; Judy Schumacher. Mabelle extends a heartfelt thank you to Charlene Compton, Kemmie Schumacher and Viola "Vicki" Ramseyer for the kind and compassionate care they extended to her over the years. Funeral Services will take place Tuesday October 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church. Officiating will be the Clergy of the Church with interment following in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mabelle will be taken to the church on Tuesday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial cards for "Harvest Call" or Woodhaven Retirement Community of Bay City will be available at the funeral home.
