Mae passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Sheffield Bay Assisted Living with her family by her side at the age of 94 years. Mae was born in Bay City on November 13, 1924 to the late Charles and Nellie (Johnson) Pierson. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish for many years. On September 5, 1949 she married Edward Samolewski and he preceded her in death on September 5, 2013. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, walking, building puzzles, watching soap operas and loved cats. Most of all she loved watching and being with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Sandra Morrisette, Kevin (Lori) Samolewski, Patrick (Nancy) Samolewski and Daniel Samolewski and fiance, Maria Olenick; grandchildren, Christie, Kayla, Lauren, Scott (Sara), Ryan (Nicole) and Alex (Sydney); great grandchildren, Riley, Avery, Logan, Graham, Ron, Zander and Brynlee and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Charles and Clarence Pierson; sister, Ellen Anderson and son-in-law, Bill Morrisette.
Funeral and committal services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. James W. Bessert with cremation following the service. Private inurnment will take place in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to make a memorial contribution to the Alzheimer's Association.
