Margaret T. Jacobs

JACOBS, Margaret T. passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 1, 2010. She spent the last few months of her life at Huron Woods Nursing Home, but lived in her home until her 92nd birthday with the aid of her daughters and family. Margaret was born in the front bedroom of her parent's home, the fourth of six children to Emma and George Arndt of Saginaw on April 26, 1918. After graduating from Arthur Hill High School, she worked for Saginaw General Hospital as a nurse's aide and then worked for Saginaw Home Dairy as a phone receptionist for 11 years. At age 32, she took a fateful trip to visit a cousin in Anchorage, Alaska. There, Margaret met the love of her life, Wayne Jacobs. They married on May 4, 1950 and started their family. In August of 1962, they moved back to the continental U.S., living in Florida temporarily and eventually settling permanently in Bay City, MI in 1965. Margaret took on many activities involving her family. She loved spending time with her daughters and served as Girl Scout leader. She was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and served proudly as a deacon for many years. She loved to cook and had perfected a lemon meringue pie recipe that was her father's favorite and later became her husband's. She also loved to make picnic lunches for the family to take on their legendary Sunday afternoon drives. She loved card and board games and always played to win. Her family and her home were her pride and joy. Surviving are her children, Sally Randall of Edenville and Beth (Steve) Hofmann of Kawkawlin; her grandchildren, David (Ashley) Randall of Sanford, Wayne (fiancée Cadia Humpula) and Kathryn Hofmann of Kawkawlin; her great-grandchildren Christopher Randall of Munger, Megan, Emma, and Katelyn Randall of Sanford. Margaret joins in heaven her beloved husband Wayne, along with her parents and brothers Walter and George Jr., and her cherished sister Ursula Brown. A special thank you to McLaren Visiting Nurse & Hospice Services, the staff at Huron Woods Nursing Home, and Tanya and Kim Howell for all the loving care you gave to Mom. At the request of Mrs. Jacobs cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Matthew Schramm. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, September 11, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. and until the time of services. Memorial contributions on Margaret's behalf may be made to Golden Horizons Senior Center or Westminster Presbyterian Church.
