Mrs. Luczak passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Hurley Medical Center at the age of 88. The daughter of the late Sigmund and Barbara (Damrau) Maciejewski was born March 13, 1934 in Bay City, Michigan. Marg was a member of St. Stanislaus Church. There she was a commissioned Lay Minister, Eucharistic Minister, Grief Recovery Minister and Lector. During her children’s school days, she participated in the St. Stan’s Mothers’ Club and the Felician Sisters Auxiliary. She enjoyed her daily swim exercise classes at the Bay Area Family Y with her friends. She also was giving of her time to help native Polish speaking people learn English. She and Don were busy parents. Both worked full-time and loved attending the numerous activities of their children. They continued this with their grandchildren. She attended St. Stanislaus for Grade School and High School and was Valedictorian of the first graduating class. She also gained her Associates Degree in her spare time. Marg loved to crochet, sew and make quilts. Marg retired from the State of Michigan.
Surviving her are her six children & spouses, Tom & Martha Luczak, Karen & Bill McPherson, Kevin & Barbara Luczak, Greg & Lisa Luczak, Mary Ellen & Amos Rinks and Todd & Wendy Luczak; grandchildren, Claire (Scott) Sengpiel, Grace Luczak (Dr. Michael Fattal), Dr. Connor Luczak (Ariane Janz), Billy (Katie) McPherson, Bryan McPherson, Josh (Kelly) Luczak, Katie (Kevin) Ledford, Christina (Nate) Zuehlke, Justin (Mariah) Rios, Sarah (Dr. Daniel) Dekoski, Ashley (Jacob) Morrison, Mason (Erin) Rinks, Charlotte Luczak; great grandchildren, Shawn, Jesse, Liam, Ember, Harrison, Madelyn, Samantha, Dylan, Morgan, Baby Zuehlke, Ella, Judah, Lauren, Lexie and Lydia; great-great grandson, Weston. She is also survived by her special niece and angel Kay & Rick Brzezinski and sister in-law Arlene Maciejewski, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Donald, whom she married on June 2, 1956. Marg was also predeceased by one grandson, Amos Rinks and one great grandson, Jonas Rios, along with two brothers and sister in-law that meant the world to her, Richard (Angie) and John Maciejewski; brother and sister in-law, Grace (Emil) Swiecicki, Elaine (Edward) Wiechec, Pat (Dick) Brzezinski, Eugene (Geri) Luczak, Marg (Jim) Lewicki, Gerald (Thelma) Luczak; father and mother-in-law, Alexander and Angeline Luczak, and one nephew, Douglas Luczak.
Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stan’s Church. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Richard M. Filary with Rite of Committal following in St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the Gephart Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. The vigil for the deceased will take place on Monday at 6:00 p.m. Mrs. Luczak will be taken to the church to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Memorial cards for Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation will be available at the funeral home.
