Mrs. Cote passed away Monday, February 23, 2015 at McLaren Bay Special Care at the age of 94 years. The daughter of the late Frances (Nijakowski) and Stanley Michalski was born October 20, 1920 in Bay City and has resided here all of her life. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish and a former member of St. Hedwig Catholic Church where she sang in the church choir for many years. Marie was also a member of The Rosary Altar Society, League of Catholic Women and Men, Felician Sisters Auxiliary, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary #4102, F.O.E. Auxiliary Aries #1010 and a charter member of the Kiesel Pearls and Credit Union Plus. Marie served as a L.P.N. at Mercy Hospital and Bay Medical Hospital for twenty four years and retired in 1981. She enjoyed playing cards, walking, singing and most of all spending time with her family and friends. On November 22, 1945 she married John "Jack" Cote on Thanksgiving Day in St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish and he preceded her in death on October 24, 1998 after fifty two years of marriage. Mrs. Cote is survived by one sister-in-law; Eleanore Cote, many special nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews and her longtime friend; Irene Haddad. She was also preceded in death by two sisters; Laura Kiazek and Regina Martin, six brothers; Edward, Casimer, Walter, Aloysious, Stanley and S/Sgt. Alexander Michalski, two sisters-in-law; Katherine Goetz and Sally Dwyer and two brothers-in-law; Gene Cote and Paul Cote. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Friday, February 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. St. Catherine of Siena Parish 2956 E. North Union Road Bay City, MI 48706. Rev. Fr. John S. Sarge and Sr. Virginia Scally, SNDdeN will officiate over the Funeral Rites and the Committal following at Floral Gardens Mausoleum. At the request of Marie there will be no visitation at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Mrs. Cote will be taken to the church on Friday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. and until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers memorial cards for St. Catherine of Siena Parish or McLaren Bay Medical Foundation will be available.
