Mark Alan VanGuilder

Mark was called up to celebrate his dad's birthday on November 17, 2012; age 59 in Fairfax, Virginia after a short battle with cancer. Mark was born in Bay City, Michigan on July 19, 1953 to William and Mary VanGuilder. Mark married the love of his life Linda Pitzen on March 21, 2003 after being together eight years. Mark graduated from T.L. Handy High School in 1974. From 1976 to 1978 Mark served in the United States Army. For the past 16 years he worked for Complete Interior Construction Inc. in Fairfax, Virginia. Mark was an avid golfer and bowler; he also loved his Harley Davidson. His other great joy was his two dogs Casey and Taylor. After a long time of being away from Bay City and his family Mark and Linda enjoyed spending their summer vacation here in Michigan with his family. He is survived by his wife Linda, stepson Christopher & Jenny Pitzen and grand son Otto of Seattle, Washington, sister-in-law; Laura (Stanley) Butler, best friends, Robert & Sara Erlich and Mike Dougan. Also surviving are his mother, Mary VanGuilder, brothers, Bill, Bob (Jackie) VanGuilder, sisters; Jean (Mark) Bartlett, Linda (Terry) Prior and Sue Mueller, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. His father William preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held at Gephart Funeral Home, Inc on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, visitation from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. with the Eulogy by Dorla Talaga at 5:00 p.m. followed by Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. He will be laid to rest with his Dad at Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a contribution to the American Cancer Society or to your favorite charity in Marks memory.
