Marlene passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family and loved ones, on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the age of 80. She was born April 7, 1941 to the late Raymond and Esther Schwartz in Bay City, Michigan. She was a life long resident of Bay County and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. Marlene was a loving mother, Grandmother and Great grandmother.
She retired from G.M. Bay City Powertrain in January 2004. After her retirement she did volunteer work for the Bay City Players, the Economy Center and various other organizations. Marlene belonged to U.A.W. Local #362 Retiree, St. Paul Lutheran Ladies Aide and also FLAFF. She loved playing shuffleboard at the Senior Center and was an active member of the senior Olympics. She also loved watching Musicals.
Marlene leaves behind her two sons, Terry Goupil of Prescott, MI and Douglas (Heidi) Goupil of Bay City, MI; four grandchildren, Jessica (Fiancé Michael Matthew) Goupil of Twining, MI, Tyler Goupil of Midland, MI, Justin Goupil and Michael Goupil of Bay City; two great grandchildren, Jayden Goupil and Killian Matthew of Twining; sister, Marilyn Hood of Henderson, NV; brother, Dennis (Nancy) Schwartz of East Lansing, MI; niece, Lora Kalkman; two nephews, Christopher Hood and Austin Bradley Schwartz; one great grandniece, Felicia Kalkman and one great grandnephew, Spencer Kalkman.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Monty and Tony Biskup for all their love and support. They would also like to extend a thank you to the staff at Covenant Cancer Center, Dr. Malhotra, the Covenant Visiting Nurse Association and Covenant Hospice.
Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust with an interment to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Dennis W. Matyas. The family will be present to receive visitors at Gephart Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust.
