Martha C. Wood

Martha C. Wood passed into eternal life on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Bay Valley Assisted Living. Age 97 years. The daughter of August and Mina (Schultz) Friese. Martha was born January 26, 1918, in Stewardson, Illinois. She married Nelson E. Wood on April 15, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Nelson on December 18, 1989, and her brothers and sisters; Ernest, Kathryn, Vera, Arthur and George. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law; Rita and Lee Morrill; grandchildren, Katie (Jacob), Tim (Stephanie), and Steve; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Hannah, Michaela, Caleb and Hazel. The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to Karen and the entire staff of Bay Valley Assisted Living for their compassionate and loving care, always making us feel like family; and to Hometown Home Health and Hospice for their supportive care, making this last week a peaceful one. At Martha's request cremation has taken place. A Private Family Memorial Service will take place. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc., on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to receive family and friends.
