Mr. Marvin G. Hallam, of Essexville, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 1, 2017 at Select Specialty Hospital in Saginaw, age 80. The son of the late William and Agnes Hallam, he was born on July 23, 1936 in Detroit. Marv lived for many years between Chicago and New Jersey, owned a printing business and then became a printing consultant, traveling worldwide. He was an Eagle Scout and spent several years as a scouting leader. Marv loved dogs and was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, fishing and hiking. He was a true inventor who loved to work with his hands.
Marv is survived by his wife, Beverly Gingrich-Hallam of Essexville; his two sons, James (Susie) Hallam of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI and Robert Hallam of Elk Grove Village, IL; three step-children, Denton (Kelly) Gingrich of Beaver Creek, OH, Michele (Rick) Jennings of Bay City and Tanya Lopez of Cleveland, TN; and his grandchildren, Eric, Andrew, Matthew, Mark, Christopher, Angelica, Dylan, Tara, Hannah, Riley, Austin, Nick, Travis, Cheyenne, Taylor and Jordan. Besides his parents, Marv was also preceded in death by a son, Tom Hallam; and a granddaughter, Kristina Hallam.
A Memorial Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Joseph Atchinson. Private interment will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
