Marvin Strauss (aka Marvelous Marv), our loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather went to be home with the Lord March 3, 2016 at The Carriage House Nursing Home. Age 85 years. The Son of the late Frank Strauss and Helen Fox was born April 11, 1930 in Lansing Michigan. He retired from Prestolite Corporation. Marvin was a member of Corpus Christi Parish-Holy Trinity Church. Marvin proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was passionate about life and especially Metal Detecting and did so every chance he could, often with his son Thomas.
Marvin adored and cherished his Bride of 68 years, the former Donna M Mahar; his children Richard J. (Marie) Strauss; Cathy A (Robin) Hanvey; Thomas L (Michelle) Strauss; Annie M Eckenrod (Wade) his grandchildren, Dawn; Becky; Alaina; Bonnie; Angie; Adam; Andrew; Jacob; Alec and great grandchildren; Braxton; Beckham; Henrick; Jordan and Cole, his half-brother; Delbert Fox. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Strauss and one grandson, David Strauss.
The Funeral Liturgy and Rite of Committal will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish-Holy Trinity Church. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Robert S. Gohm followed by Military honors conducted by the U.S. Army and the Bay County Veterans Council. Private interment will take place in Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday to receive family and friends from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Strauss will be taken to the church on Tuesday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
