Mrs. Mary L. Howay, of Bay City, passed away Friday morning, June 26, 2015 at The Colonnades of Bay City, age 85 years. She was born on August 31, 1929 in Clarkston, MI. Mary was an active member of Peoples Baptist Church, where she was known to many for her warm "church hugs." She loved music and especially enjoyed singing in the church choir. Mary was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her life was truly centered on her family.
On November 8, 1947 Mary married George D. Howay and he survives her passing along with four children, Michael (Marion) Howay of Kawkawlin, Patti (Wayne) Liske of Ossineke, MI, Deb (late Al) Cardinal of Kawkawlin and Connie (Gerald) Stanley of Kawkawlin; her "adopted" daughter, Carrie McDonell of Boston, MA; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jane (Hank) Reinholz of Hubbard Lake and Karen (late Ken) Bolley of Lake Orion; and several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her step-father and her mother, Fred and Ruth (Mendham) Trost; her father, Ellis Bradley; a son, Dennis L. Howay; a son-in-law, Carl Cinciala; a grandson, Zachary Robertson; and her brother, Robert Bradley.
The Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Peoples Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Daniel R. Hester with graveside interment following at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Howay will lie instate at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
