Our loving, mother, grandmother and sister passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Centennial Hills Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. Age 84 years. The daughter of the late Russell A. and Fern (Cuthbert) Burley was born July 26, 1931 in Bay City where she resided for many years. Mary Jo graduated from Bay City Central High School and continued on with her education at Central Michigan University where she received her BA in Education and her MA in Administration and retired from the Bay City School System. She was a member of The James Girls Book Club and the MEA. In her free time she enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memories are five children; Steven (Cheryl) Robb of Midland, Jeffrey Robb of Midland, Michael (Jenne) Robb of New Zealand, Amy Jo Granger of Apple Valley, CA and Ryan (Jill) Robb of Midland/LasVegas, her grandchildren; Travis Robb, Andrew (Emily) Robb, Nicholas (Melanie) Granger, Margaret (Charles) Holmes, Rebecca (Scott) Brady, Kerry (Ryan) Hegenauer, Kendra Robb, Katy Robb, Erica Robb, Dana Robb, Alexandria Robb and Michael Robb, her great grandchildren; Taylor and Grant Holmes, Abigail Granger and Brett Robb, one brother; Gerald (Phyllis) Burley of Bay City and her nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers; Jack and James Burley and four sisters; Beverly Herber, Judy Hovey, Norma West and Janice Young.
Funeral services will take place Monday, April 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Patrick M. Jankowiak with private Inurnment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present at the funeral home on Sunday to receive visitors from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to The American Cancer Society.
