Mary Jo passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018 surrounded by her family at the age of 60 years. Mary Jo was born in Saginaw, Michigan on January 6, 1958 to the late Joseph and Mary Jane (Partlow) Sian. After Joe passed away Mary Jane married Albert Johnson who helped raise Mary Jo and her siblings. Mary Jo married Robert J. Kochalka on October 6, 1985 in Bay City and were married for 33 years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust and enjoyed decorating homes, refurbishing furniture and loved playing BINGO.
Mary Jo is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Travis Kochalka, Fred Sian, Lori (Brian) Burnell and Karen (Paul) DeJager; several grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Ruth Ann "Tassie" York, Glenda Towles, Richard Sian, Judy McKay, Edward Sian, Dennis Sian, Patricia Karas and Melanie Hewitt and their spouses; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Robert Jr. and brothers, Joseph "Peter" and David Sian.
Per Mary Jo's request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. Officiating will be Pastor Dennis W. Matyas with inurnment in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
