Mrs. Rivard passed away Thursday April 1, 2010 at the Bay Medical Care Facility, age 86. The daughter of the late William & Charlotte (Stewart) Piffer, she was born July 11, 1923 in Saginaw. Mary was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the League of Catholic Women. She was active with the Bay County Right to Life, enjoyed spending time with her family and her favorite color was pink. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Emil J. Rivard on November 29, 2006.Mrs. Rivard is survived by her seven children, Gary Rivard of Florida, Steven (Carol) Rivard of Atlanta, GA, Dean (Jackie) Rivard of Texas, Rick (Tammy) Rivard of Essexville, Terry (Asia) Rivard of Atlanta, GA, and Mary Jo Scott and Jim (Ann) Rivard both of Bay City; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, Doris Gibson of Saginaw; and two sisters-in-law, Sara Boyk and Betty Heeke. Besides her parents, Mary was also preceded in death by her brother, William Piffer.The family would like to express their thanks to Mary's special caregivers, Ann, Theresa, Sherry and Cheryl for their care and companionship and also to the staff on 2West at the Bay Medical Care Facility for their exceptional care over the last two years.The Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00am on Tuesday April 6, 2010 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Robert J. Meissner with the Rite of Committal following at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00pm with the Vigil for the Deceased at 7:00pm. Mrs. Rivard will lie in-state at the church on Tuesday from 9:00am until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Bay County Right to Life.
