Mary Ann passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 26, 2022 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was born to the late George and Vera (Klosowski) Grego on October 16, 1931 in Auburn, Michigan. Mary Ann was a lifelong member of the former St. Mary's Parish - Our Lady of Peace Parish. She graduated from Mercy Central School of Nursing in Grand Rapids. She retired from Bay Medical Care as a registered nurse in the Cardiac step-down unit. She also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary Ann is survived by her children, Gary (Janelle) Smolinski of Grand Rapids, Alan (Denise) Smolinski of Boston, Sharon (Michael) Lincoln of Bay City and Julie (David) Montgomery of Kalamazoo; special friend, Herbert Datte; grandchildren, Janelle (Mark) Wolfman, Mark Smolinski, Matthew (Katie) Montgomery, Mitchell Montgomery, Chelsea Lincoln and her significant other, Mario Campos, Monica Smolinski and John Paul Smolinski; great grandchildren, Lucy, David, Maceo, Kara, Daniel, Luke and Aaliyah. In addition to her parents, Mary Ann is preceded in death by her husband John Thomas Smolinski, whom she married on April 30 1955; siblings, Raymond (Anna) Grego, Eugene (Betty) Grego and Delphine (Peter) Satkowiak.
A funeral service will take place on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Our Lady of Peace Parish at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. John Sarge. The family will be present to receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A Vigil Service for Mary Ann will be taking place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2022. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Peace Parish.
