Our loving mom and nana passed away Saturday morning, April 28, 2018 at McLaren Bay Region. Age 79 years. The daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Marcott) Savage was born May 16, 1938 in Bay City. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish. Mary Lou worked many years at Visitation Catholic School in the cafeteria as a baker. She enjoyed knitting crocheting, her card club, Red Hat Society and spending time with her grandchildren and great grand boys. Mary Lou and Bernie enjoyed traveling, camping and spending winters in Florida.
Mary Lou is survived by her children, Cindy Woods, Eileen (Thomas) Krueger, Connie Fleming, Jeffrey (Loretta) Woods, Paul (Colleen) Woods; her grandchildren, Megan (Mike) Major, Melissa (Joshua) Appold, Emily Krueger, Lindsey and Joshua Fleming, Courtney and Kelsey Woods, step grandchildren, Selena (Jeremy) Stevenson, Donnie (Stefanie) Basawa, her great grandchildren, Timothy and Gregory; step great grandchildren, Kegan, Kayla, Brennen, Bryson, Reese and Page; her sisters, Dolores Bliven, Shirley Nawrock, Carol (Jerry) Mader; her sisters-law and brother-in-law, Noreen Woods, Michael (Helen) Woods, several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her special friend Barb Rytlewski. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard R. "Bernie" Woods whom she married  August 10, 1957; her son-in-law,Timothy Fleming; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Marie Woods; her sister, Joyce (Ed) Van Wert; her brother, Michael Savage; her -in-laws, Silas Bliven, Edward Nawrock, Charles (Mary) McInerney, Earl (Katie) Woods and Gerald Woods. The family would like to extend our appreciation to the staff of 3 east and Hospice at Mc Laren , Close to Home Assisted Living for the kind and compassionate care given to Mary Lou.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, May 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Parish. The celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Patrick Jankowiak. After words a Celebration of Life will take place at the Knights of Columbus 1021 Woodside Ave. Essexville, MI 48732from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.Cremation has taken place. The family will be present at the church on Friday to receive family and friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider donations to Wishes of the Family.
