Meta A.M. Osterhout, of Bay City, passed away Friday morning October 21, 2011 at Red Oaks A.F.C., age 95. The daughter of the late Edward & Anna (Schwenn) Ruhlig, she was born November 21, 1915. Meta was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Zion Women's Guild. She was retired from Ray's Food Fair. Mrs. Osterhout is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Edward & Barbara Schultz of Bay City; three grandchildren, Cynthia Marge Watz, Edward Joseph (Carrie) Schultz, Jr. and Michael Carl (Patty) Schultz; five great-grandchildren, Christopher, Marguerite, Kaydee, Michael and Matthew; and her sister, Ruth Minster of Saginaw. Besides her parents, Meta was also preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph S. Schultz; her second husband, Merle A. Osterhout; a son, Carl E. Schultz; a sister, Gertrude (Dale) Evans; and her brother, Ernie (Agnes) Ruhlig. Meta's family would like to express their sincere thanks to Red Oaks A.F.C. for the exceptional care she received during the last three months. The funeral service will take place at 11:00am on Tuesday October 25, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church, 510 W. Ivy St. Officiating will be Rev. William H. Allwardt. Private interment will be in Green Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 to 5:00 & 7:00 to 9:00pm. Mrs. Osterhout will lie instate at the church on Tuesday from 10:00am until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
