Mildred Marguerite "Millie" Ferrio

Millie passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 11, at Auburn Fields Assisted Living at 93 years of age. Daughter of the late Henry and Margaret (Weiss) Feinauer, Millie was born on December 1, 1923 in Bay City. She was a member of St. Bartholomew Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kawkawlin and a member of the Ladies' Aid and, previously, a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Amelith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Ben A. Ferrio, whom she married on August 28, 1948. She was the last of her 9 siblings to leave this earth, surviving brothers Erwin, Harold, Elmer, Hilmar and Melvin and sisters Esther (Wiesenauer), Ruth (Beiser) and Aurelia. She is survived by her two sons Tom (Suzanne Masse) of Charlestown, RI and Dave (Cindy Krzywosinski) of Bay City. In recent years she was grateful for the companionship and love of sister-in-law Barbara Reiss (Ferrio) who lived at the same assisted living facility, sister-in-law Margie and Ray Wenglikowski and brother-in-law Joe and Barb Ferrio and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express our thanks to the kind staff of Auburn Fields Assisted Living and Hometown Home Health & Hospice. Millie was loved for her insistence on serving others before herself. On the farm she was the last to sit down for a meal and the first to get up to clean the table. Many remember her sticky buns with pleasure. She was a tireless wife and farm worker for Ben while he often had other off-farm jobs. She was well-known for her enthusiasm for The Detroit Tigers, gardening and playing cards. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2460 S. Fraser Road, Kawkawlin. Officiating will be Rev. Larry Seafert followed by prayers at graveside in Calvary Cemetery in Kawkawlin. The family will receive friends at Gephart Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Millie will be taken to the church on Wednesday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests donations to St. Bartholomew Lutheran Church.
