Nancy Lee (Butler) Hughes, age 77, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Bayfield Assisted Living in Bay City. Nancy was born on April 3, 1947 as the only child to the late Benjamin and Erma (Griffin) Butler. She grew up in Bay City and graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1965. On September 17, 1966 she married James A. Hughes at Madison Avenue United Methodist Church and together they raised their two children in Bay City, then later moving to Linwood, Michigan. Nancy was an Avon representative for many years and at time served as a manager. She also was a school bus driver for Pinconning Area Schools, retiring in 2010. Nancy enjoyed being around people and will be remembered by many as being cheerful, an empathetic listener and having a great sense of humor. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a life long member of the United Methodist Church.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Julie (Kevin) Przybylski and her grandchildren, James Hughes III and Lauren Hughes. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James A. Hughes I, in 2006 and her son, James A. Hughes II, in 2013.

Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are being planned. Private inurnment will take place in Oak Ridge Cemetery at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Grace United Methodist Church, 4267 South Two Mile Road, Bay City, MI 48706 or to a charity of your choice.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Bayfield Assisted Living for their kind and compassionate care and for making mom feel at home. Also, thank you to the staff of Corsocare Hospice.
