Our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Bay County Medical Care Facility with her family by her side. Age of 84 years. The daughter of the late Thomas and Edna (McKeller) Burns was born June 18, 1934 in Freeland, Michigan. Nancy was a member of the former Visitation Catholic Church and attended St. Jude Thaddeus Parish. She was a Eucharistic Minister at Visitation and the past Regent of the Bay City Chapter of the Catholic Daughters. She was an active volunteer with Hospice and volunteered for many events in Wenona Park and was a Girl Scout Leader. Nancy retired as a Branch Manager from Great Lakes Federal Credit Union. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them, she also enjoyed doing crafts, attending craft shows and cooking.
Left behind to cherish her memories is her son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Rosanne Haberland of Bay City; one daughter, Rochele Swiecicki of Maine; her grandchildren, Kenneth (Caitlin) Haberland, Steven Haberland, Matthew Haberland, Nicholas LaRose, Brandon LaRose, Zachary LaRose, Garet LaRose and Reid LaRose; her great grandchildren, Annabelle LaRose, Oliver LaRose and Garet Tucker LaRose; her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Colleen Bourassa, Daryl and Louise Haberland; many dear nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Haberland; her daughter, Rebecca Haberland; her son-in-law, David Swiecicki; six brothers and one sister. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bay County Medical Care Facility and Heartland Hospice for the kind and compassionate care our loved one received during her time of need.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish-St. John the Evangelist Church (614 Pine, Essexville, MI 48732) . The celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Dale A. Orlik with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on to receive family and friends on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Nancy will be taken to the church on Thursday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider donations to Bay County Medical Care Facility or Heartland Hospice.
