Nancy June Wieland

Wieland, Nancy June of Kawkawlin, Michigan passed away peacefully Wednesday August 22, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Age 69 years. She was born January 9, 1943 in St. Louis, MI. Nancy was a member of Kawkawlin Community Church, and active community volunteer over the years in our community. She was a grant writer and volunteer at the Bay City State Park, active with Bay Area Community Foundation and past president of the Bay Arts Council where she served for twelve years and was formerly employed at Younkers as a customer service representative for ten years. Nancy is survived by one son; Timothy (Kim) Wieland of Bay City and one daughter; Tamara (William) Stender III of Bay City, four grandchildren; Justin Evans, Brandon Wieland, Heather Johnson and Samantha Wieland, her mother; Doris Detwiler, sister-in-law; Beverly Tinney of Beaveton, brother-in-law; Doug Wieland and many nieces and nephews. On June 9, 1962 she married Kenneth Wieland and he preceded her in death on October 23, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter; Megan Strzelecki on September 11, 2011 and her father; John Detwiler. Funeral Services will take place Monday, August 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Kawkawlin Community Church. Officiating will be Rev. David L. Dunn with interment following in Heavenly Rest Cemetery in Kawkawlin. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m.. Mrs. Wieland will be taken to the church to lie in state on Monday from 9:00 a.m. and until the time of services. In lieu of flowers the family ask that you consider a memorial to Friends of Bay City State Park or Kawkawlin Community Church.
