Nancy L. Yant

Nancy L. Yant of Bay City passed away Sunday afternoon August 22, 2010 at her residence, age 83. The daughter of the late George Drury and Mae (Schultz) Drury, she was born January 11, 1927 in Rocky River, Ohio. On July 7, 1950 Nancy married William A. Yant and he preceded her death on April 6, 2001. She graduated from Bay City Junior College and Central Michigan University. Nancy was a teacher for several years at Mackensen Elementary, Kolb Elementary, McAlear-Sawden Elementary, MacGregor Elementary and T.L. Handy Intermediate. She was a former president of the Bay City Teacher Association and former member of the Bay County Humane Society. Mrs. Yant is survived by four children, Robert E. (Sharon) Yant of Medina, Ohio, Vernon 'Gene' (Sharon) Yant of Bay City, Jane (Bill) Primeau of Bay City and David (Sarah) Yant of Freeland; 19 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. Nancy was also preceded in death by a son, William Yant; a grandson, Kevin Yant; a brother, George Drury, Jr.; and her step-father, Barney Ramerman. The funeral service will take place at 8:00pm on Wednesday August 25, 2010 at the Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be Pastor Dan Davis. Inurnment will be in Fremont Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bay County Humane Society, Boys & Girls Club of Bay County, Heartland Hospice or the Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Research Foundation.
